TKTX Lidocaine Cream is a topical anesthetic used to numb the skin or mucous membranes. It contains lidocaine and prilocaine, which work by blocking nerve signals in the body. This cream is commonly used to relieve pain from minor skin irritations, insect bites, and minor burns. It is also used in medical procedures to numb the skin before injections or minor surgeries.
TKTX numb cream is applied to intact skin and covered with an occlusive dressing. It works by releasing lidocaine and prilocaine into the dermal and epidermal layers. The accumulation of lidocaine and prilocaine at the pain receptors and nerve endings in the epidermis produces a local anesthetic effect. Lidocaine and prilocaine are amide-type local anesthetics that stabilize the neuronal cell membrane by inhibiting the ionic fluxes required for the initiation and conduction of nerve impulses, thereby producing local anesthesia.
